Our daughter entered this program reluctant and insecure. She had some deficits that she was willing to work on in order to see a change. Her experience from the very beginning when she took the first screening was pleasant because of the gal that led her through it. That gave her the confidence she needed to see the program out. So, we set out on the journey together. As the sessions began and got under way Laura did not mind going at all and even enjoyed the sessions. I loved especially when I talk to Laura after a session and she would exclaim, “I completed so many levels today!” Of course, she had days when she was a little discouraged at her lack of progress as well, but those were few and far between. I appreciate that the coaches never made her feel dumb or bad even in those times – Laura never felt bad about herself in these times – only that she desired to improve.

That was really a wonderful thing! None of us could believe when we got the email saying she was completing her last week! It went by so fast which I attribute to how enjoyable the program ended up being for Laura! It was enjoyable because she saw the improvement she was making and took such pride in it and the coaches were encouraging all the way through. Somehow you were able to help her see and feel how beneficial this was for her now and for her future. I really thank you for this. With the program complete and the assessment given again we were floored with the scores we saw on paper. We certainly believed we would see improvement, but we had no idea it would be so great! Though looking back, I am not surprised because I saw it in Laura each day throughout her program as her confidence grew and she saw herself as a different person, confident and able to learn and retain valuable knowledge that she had not believed possible previously. We have seen such improvement in her ability to listen to directions and follow through in basketball (which is huge!) and in all of her classes at school. Matthew came to the Nectar Group at the beginning of his freshman year. He went to the same public charter school K-8 and consistently had tutors outside of school, and with that support was able to sustain B’s &C’s.

But when he tested to get into a private high school, he tested very low. Throughout grade school I asked teachers if they had concerns about his ability to learn. Consistently they told me no. And consistently they told me he was “such a sweet kid”.

Sweet as he is, my mom instincts nagged at me. He worked too hard for his mediocre academic results. I finally had a psychoeducational evaluation done (before we met Nectar). The results were devastating. Matthew was diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, and low IQ. The doctor who evaluated him was pretty adamant that Matthew should be on meds and gave very little hope that Matthew would succeed at a tough high school, much less a 4 year college….and that’s when we found The Nectar Group. We met with Andrea Pitman and she explained cognitive training and the research backing it. We enrolled Matthew, but in our heart of hearts we were doing it to satisfy ourselves. To know that we did all we could for our son. We prayed for Matthew, asking God to help him find his way in life. We prayed for ourselves. Prayed that we could accept Matthew and all his diagnosis and all the limits that came with those diagnosis.
Fast forward 8 months and we have a new child. At his “recap” appointment Andrea was able to share test scores showing his growth. I cried when we left. A lot. Matthew had taken the program seriously and made phenomenal progress. His growth was more than 20 points in some areas. He was no longer low IQ. In fact, he tested above average. He was no longer processing slowly.

He was processing normally. While higher test scores are wonderful to see, the confidence my son gained can’t be measured. He declined to use his academic accommodations for his finals, and earned the highest grades he has ever earned. Still some C’s, but nothing lower, and also 2 A’s. The Nectar Group literally changed the trajectory of Matthew’s life. We are forever grateful.

Our daughter struggled with school and was diagnosed with ADHD since she seemingly couldn’t focus or remember anything. Then we met The Nectar Group and they tested her and found that she had low processing speed and short-term memory (in the teens on a 100-point scale) among a host of other learning issues.

She is a more outgoing person, her confidence in all areas of life is strong, and she is looking forward to college when before we were all pretty sure that college was not in the cards. Now she has her life planned out and is really killing it. I highly recommend having your kid tested at The Nectar Group if you have any belief, they may have a learning issue.
